Orthodontics and jaw orthopedics

A dental specialty focused on correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. In orthodontics, we distinguish between removable and fixed orthodontic treatments.

Fixed orthodontic therapy is considered the gold standard in orthodontics.

There is no age limit for fixed orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic brackets are bonded to the teeth, and archwires are adjusted during follow-up appointments, with frequency depending on the specific case and the type of appliance used. There are two types of fixed orthodontic appliances:

 – Traditional fixed orthodontic appliance

 – DAMON SYSTEM

Traditional fixed orthodontic appliance – involves placing conventional metal brackets on the teeth, with archwires held in place using elastic bands.

DAMON SYSTEM – a modern fixed orthodontic appliance that uses self-ligating brackets without traditional elastic bands. This allows for faster, more comfortable, and more efficient tooth movement. Thanks to this advanced technology, results are achieved in a shorter period with fewer dental visits, offering a more comfortable experience for the patient.

Faster results with the DAMON SYSTEM!

 – The forces used to move teeth are gentler and more biologically acceptable.
– Our patients report that the system is more comfortable to wear.
– The system uses passive self-ligating brackets without elastics or metal ties.
– Memory wires move teeth more quickly.
– The Damon System avoids the uncomfortable feeling of tightening and pressure.
– The appliance is more comfortable and easier to clean, helping maintain proper oral hygiene.

We recommend Damon Clear for patients seeking better aesthetics. With transparent brackets, the “metal” look of braces is avoided.

Oral hygiene and care tips

Fixed braces require more effort and greater dedication to maintaining oral hygiene, as the brackets are bonded to the teeth. This creates areas where food, plaque, and bacteria can accumulate. A common question is whether fixed orthodontic appliances can cause stains or cavities.

Changes such as demineralization and cavities occur solely due to inadequate oral hygiene—just as they can in patients who don’t wear braces. Teeth should ideally be brushed after every meal, and in addition to a regular toothbrush, patients should use interdental brushes. The use of an oral irrigator is also recommended.

Removable orthodontic therapy

This includes activators and removable appliances that can be taken out. This type of therapy is mostly indicated for children whose growth and development are not yet complete. The success of the treatment largely depends on the patient’s cooperation.

Innovation in Orthodontics – ALIGNERS

Innovation in Orthodontics – ALIGNERS
Digitally designed clear orthodontic trays that gently move the teeth into the desired position. The treatment consists of a series of aligners, laboratory-made after a detailed analysis and treatment plan. The duration of the therapy depends on the case and the number of aligners needed. The average is 4–6 months.

Advantages:

 – Transparent, aesthetic appearance

 – Shorter treatment time

 – Comfortable to wear

 – 3D model of the final treatment outcome

In our clinic, we also offer interdisciplinary orthodontic therapy:

Orthodontic-surgical therapy (orthodontic traction of impacted teeth)

Orthodontic-prosthetic therapy (preparation of teeth for fixed prosthetic restorations or implant placement in cases of missing teeth).
